This hands-on workshop will outline the basics of record production. The session will be led by Angus Tarnawsky, a SpokenWeb research assistant involved with DIY record manufacturing for over a decade. During the workshop, you will learn how to make a specific style of disc with polycarbonate plastic, colloquially known as a ‘lathe cut record.’

Dr. Katherine McLeod received a SSHRC Insight Development Grant, “Literary Radio: Developing New Methods of Audio Research,” and this grant will be funding two graduate students at Concordia University. While this project is different from the official SpokenWeb project, Research Assistants will have the possibility of participating in SpokenWeb programming and related activities.

We are looking for someone who has strong research and organizational skills and who enjoys working in a team with other students. Previous experience working in a lab context, or managing and describing technical equipment, designing equipment tracking processes, and an interest in audio equipment and digitization processes will be an asset.
