Eight Voices: Finalists for the First QWF Spoken Word Prize — Nov 04, 2022 (Events)

In an exciting world premiere, the eight finalists for the inaugural Quebec Writers’ Federation Spoken Word Prize will offer short performances showcasing their talents. The prize is open to all forms of spoken word performance, from storytelling to sound poetry, hip hop, and dub. Presented by the Quebec Writers’ Federation and Concordia’s SpokenWeb project, the event will be hosted by poet and SpokenWeb director Jason Camlot.

The works showcased here will feature SpokenWeb Principle Investigator Jason Camlot, as well as SpokenWeb team co-applicants Jonathan Sterne and Darren Wershler. Their guest Dr. Armond R. Towns (Carleton University), author of On Black Media Philosophy (U of California Press, 2022) will present his talk: The Medium is the Message Revisited: Media and Black Epistemologies

We are looking for someone who has strong research and organizational skills and who enjoys working in a team with other students. Previous experience working in a lab context, or managing and describing technical equipment, designing equipment tracking processes, and an interest in audio equipment and digitization processes will be an asset.
