Welcome to Season 3! Our Trailer.

Another season is upon us! At the SpokenWeb Podcast, we continue to bring you episodes that journey into literary history and explore our contemporary responses to it. This season, researchers from across the SpokenWeb community – and a few special guests – produce audio stories that creatively engage with literary recordings in the SpokenWeb archives and put this archival history into context. We will dive deep into clips of preserved sound, reflect on the power of poetic performance, and consider how sound studies can inform our understandings of history and literature. We will look closely at both the individuals and communities that have shaped our literary world. We will consider how our podcast episodes can be a form of scholarship. We will listen closely together.

This podcast is for everyone who holds a love for literature, sound, archives, or history – and for all those who love learning something new by listening. Judith Burr & Hannah McGregor

Judith Burr (project manager and supervising producer) is a MA student in Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies – Digital Arts & Humanities at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. She is creating a scholarly podcast featuring stories from the fire history of the Canadian Okanagan, drawing on her past experience in environmental communication and creative storytelling. She studied Earth Systems and Philosophy at Stanford University, where she contributed to the podcasts Generation Anthropocene and Philosophy Talk.

Hannah McGregor (host) is an Assistant Professor of Publishing at Simon Fraser University, where her research focuses on podcasting as scholarly communication, systemic barriers to access in the Canadian publishing industry, and magazines as middlebrow media. She is the co-creator of Witch, Please, a feminist podcast on the Harry Potter world, and the creator of the podcast Secret Feminist Agenda. She is also the co-editor of the book Refuse: CanLit in Ruins (Book*hug 2018).
