SpokenWeb is seeking a candidate to participate in the maintenance and development of our portal website: https://spokenweb.ca/.
The website runs on a custom WordPress theme. We are looking for candidates with a strong knowledge of PHP, HTML, Javascript, CSS, and familiarity with developing websites using WordPress.
The work will be well suited for someone who works well alone, but who is also invested in working with a diverse cohort of academics, librarians, web developers, designers, artists, other students, and community stakeholders. Strong communication skills are an asset for this role.
This position will be supervised by the SpokenWeb Principal Investigator, Dr. Jason Camlot, and the SpokenWeb Project Manager, in collaboration with Max Stein, SpokenWeb’s lead Web Developer. Should the successful applicant be from a partner institution, they will be supervised by an appropriate individual from this institution in collaboration with those listed above.
Description of Job Duties
Primary responsibilities of the position may include the following:
- Realize web designs for new pages as coded templates
- Implementing re-designs for existing pages
- Fixing bugs, updating/maintaining the existing code base
- Work collaboratively with designers and other developers
- Documentation of the coding process
Salary & Eligibility
Position open to any student in good standing. Rate to be determined by the Collective Agreement of the affiliated institution for 10-15 hours per week.
