Podcast Producer – 1 RA Position — Sep 15, 2023

Posted

This position is for a SpokenWeb-affiliated project entitled “Listening Queerly Across Generational Divides.” While this project is different from the official SpokenWeb project, Research Assistants will have the possibility of participating in SpokenWeb programming and related activities.

Posted On: August 24th, 2023

Deadline: Until the Position Is Filled

The SSHRC Insight Development research project “Listening Queerly Across Generational Divides,” led by Principal Investigator Dr. Mathieu Aubin (Department of English), is seeking a candidate to participate in the production of 2-3 podcast episodes on queer-inflected literary events held in Montreal and Vancouver in the 1980s.

We are looking for a candidate with knowledge of podcast or audio production and a keen interest in Canadian queer history. Knowledge of French is an asset.

The work will be well suited for someone who feels comfortable working by themselves and enjoys connecting virtually with a team of undergraduate and Master’s students, while receiving guidance and mentorship from the project leader.

How Will the Candidate Benefit from this Opportunity?

This project will give the research assistant an opportunity to develop their expertise in podcast production and play an instrumental role in presenting the project’s findings in original ways. The candidate will work closely with the project leader and other team members on 2-3 podcast episodes. This work will be helpful for the candidate as they pursue audio production-related or research-related roles after their studies.

  • Be the primary podcast episode producer working closely with an audio engineer and the project director to develop high-quality podcasts.
  • Helping the team develop a suite of 2-3 podcast episodes;
  • Shape creative ways of presenting research findings with other team members.
