Position Context and Who We’re Looking For
SpokenWeb – a SSHRC funded Partnership Grant, Principal Investigator Jason Camlot – is seeking two (2) undergraduate students to support our work discovering and describing literary events that took place across Canada between March 2020 and now for the Archive of the Digital Present project. The ADP project works parallel to the SpokenWeb Research Network which is a research project that aims to develop and connect collections of recorded literary performances from across our international network, engaging with a broad spectrum of inquiries from pedagogy to audio signal analysis. You can find out more about SpokenWeb at its website: https://spokenweb.ca.
We are looking for someone who has strong research skills and who enjoys working in a team with other students. Previous experience working with databases, spreadsheets, social media platforms, and an interest in literary readings and events will be an asset. The work will be well suited to someone who feels comfortable working by themselves, but also enjoys connecting virtually with a diverse cohort of academics, librarians, web developers, designers, artists, other students, and community stakeholders.
This position will be supervised by Jason Camlot (Concordia, English), in coordination with the SpokenWeb RA Salena Wiener and the SpokenWeb Project Manager, with the ultimate goal of discovering and describing as many online and in-person literary events during the period in question as possible.
Description of Job Duties

- Attend SpokenWeb team meetings and events to share progress and discuss work with Concordia and Metadata Processing teams.
- Work with the ADP team to identify gaps in representation in our data set, whether geographic or otherwise.
- Audit entered data for accuracy and update as needed to ensure consistency in metadata set.
