General Description of Archive

Within the Arts & Life Section, under Books section, there is a blog-style site dedicated to poetry recordings and articles. Many of these articles have both the radio broadcast as well as a short text article. The content tends to be news about poetry and writers and writer interviews.

Description of archive history or URL

It is unclear when the archive started, but the first recording posted was from June 4, 1999. The recordings are from different NPR radio programs.

Searchable options

There is a keyword search for the Poetry section.

Relation from the audio to the text

There is a text article below the play bar, but the text has no relation (except the content) to the audio. *On the play bar, there is an option to view the transcription from the radio show.

Date/Time/Length/Context info about the audio items

Date of the radio episode and article were posted online. Context of the audio is detailed by the article about the same subject.

Audio file type: streaming, download, file format, audio file compression quality (WAV, MP3, bitrate)

MP3 streaming, download available

Multimedia integration (pictures, video, etc.)

There is usually a photo of the writer being talked about.

Audio playback setup (opens in Flash player, on new blank screen, etc.)

Mobile access (i.e. accessible on smart phones, tablets, etc.)

NPR has an Android Market application, by scanning the barcode you can download it. All of NPR's radio shows can be listened to and their articles can be read. Not sure if this applies to the poetry, but it should. An iPod app is in open source code testing at the moment.
